REGISTER FOR PART 2 HERE: December 5th

PHILANTHROPY AT THE CROSSROADS
A day of in-person member learning and conversation.

Many of the most pressing issues of our time also rank among the most polarizing: gun violence, climate change, racial inequity, and even the future of our democracy.
These interconnected challenges have become more and more intertwined with philanthropy’s long-time interest areas such as early childhood, health, education and the arts.

The day will include:

  • Short documentary clips and filmmaker talks featuring Youth Documentary Academy from Colorado Springs;
  • An engaging talk and activity led by founder of Unify America;
  • A conversation on what Supreme Court decisions might mean for our sector’s work (from the standpoint of Colorado legal experts and foundations);
  • Exploring philanthropy’s role in preventing firearm death and injury (and what’s happening here and elsewhere);
  • Perspectives and connecting the dots on climate change, clean energy, rural prosperity, early childhood, equity and more.

Featured speakers include:

  • Tom Shepard, Founding Director, Youth Documentary Academy with youth filmmaker Taylor Saulsbury;
  • Jonathan McMillan, Director, Office of Gun Violence Prevention, Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment;
  • Cara Lawrence, Attorney, Tierney Lawrence Stiles
  • Josh Ewing, Director, Rural Climate Partnership;
  • Harry Nathan Gottlieb, Founder, Unify America;
  • Lydia Avila, Deputy Director of Grants and Powerbuilding, Climate and Clean Energy Equity Fund;
  • Jessi LaRose, Director of Strategic Initiatives, Missouri Foundation for Health;
  • Elliot Haspel, Director, Climate and Young Children, Capita;
  • Amy Latham, Chief Impact Officer, The Colorado Health Foundation
  • Lindy Eichenbaum Lent, CEO, Rose Community Foundation
  • Tariana Navas-Nieves, Director of Cultural Affairs, Denver Arts & Venues
