Join The Colorado Trust and Philanthropy Colorado to learn about issues around "language justice" and a new pilot effort to increase translation, interpretation and training services with the Community Language Cooperative. In addition to creating a better understanding of practices and importance, The Colorado Trust wants to gauge if there is interest in a funder collaborative to support this work.
More than one in six Coloradans speak a language other than English at home, most commonly Spanish. As funders committed to fair and equitable outcomes - whether you focus on health, education, environment, housing, criminal justice or other issues - language justice should be important to your organization and grantmaking.
You will leave the member briefing with:
• An understanding of the significance of language justice in effectively serving Colorado’s diverse population;
• Knowledge of the key elements of language justice and how they contribute to equitable community and access to services;
• Information on the current language-related needs across Colorado; and
• Opportunities to actively engage in language justice efforts, funding and advocacy, including establishing a Language Justice Funder Table.

- Entendimiento acerca de la importancia de la justicia de lenguaje para dar un servicio eficaz a la diversa población de Colorado;
- Conocimiento de los elementos clave de la justicia de lenguaje y cómo contribuyen a una comunidad equitativa y al acceso a servicios;
- Información acerca de las necesidades relacionadas con el lenguaje actuales a lo largo del estado de Colorado; y
- Oportunidades para participar activamente en los esfuerzos de justicia de lenguaje, la asignación de fondos y la abogacía.
