Just Transitions for Colorado’s Coal Communities

Monday, May 10, 2021, 3:45 - 4:45 PM

Colorado is the first state to craft a detailed “Just Transition” plan to help local communities transition away from coal-based economies. A bipartisan-sponsored bill has been introduced at the state legislature that would fund the initial local work on the effort.

Philanthropy Colorado will host this funder-only briefing about the state’s action plan. We'll also discuss philanthropy’s potential role in building local capacity for equitable transitions and learn about a national impact investing initiative focused on Colorado’s efforts.

Presenters include: Wade Buchanan, Director, Colorado State Office of Just Transition; and Telluride Foundation CEO Paul Major, a member of the Just Transition advisory committee.
